2007 Legislative Action Summary of the 2007 Rural Caucus
From every region in Oregon, stretching from the small town community of Irrigon to the east, to the Applegate Valley in the south, to the coastal communities north, central, and south, rural and small town leaders from around the state climbed into their cars in the wee hours of Saturday morning on April 28th to travel to Corvallis. Their destination: ROP’s annual Rural Caucus and Strategy Session. Over 120 folks representing small town human dignity leaders, youth, military families, immigrants, and allies gathered to strategize our next steps in building the movement for justice and democracy in rural Oregon.

To learn more about the work of the youth in our communities, click HERE Reflecting for Change, Framing the Debate George Lakoff is sharpening our ability to do this values based organizing through his work with that other buzz word of the moment: framing. Lakoff explains what allows our values to get heard by others. ROP offers $6 copies of his easy to read Don’t Think of an Elephant as we encourage activists to fold serious group reflection time into organizing priorities this winter. Why reflect when there is so much to be done? Because there is so much to be done. We need to build from what we do well. We need to learn what we can do better. And we need to critically assess our status as a progressive movement driven by values at a global and very local level.
