Organizing Tools

Rural Organizing Project (ROP) exists to "strengthen the skills, resources, and vision of primary leadership in local autonomous human dignity groups with the goal of keeping such groups a vibrant source for a just democracy."  Toward that end, we offer you the following downloadable Organizing Tools, all located here in our “toolbox”. Created by and for ROP leaders to help strengthen the capacity of local groups, these tools are effective, easy-to-use, and carry no worries of pesky nail gun accidents!

  1. DEMOCRACY GRID   When analyzing issues, ROP uses the Democracy Grid to decide if said issue “advances democracy” or takes us away from the basic premise of democracy.  Our Democracy Talking Points explains how to use the grid.
  2. KEEPING YOUR GROUP ALIVE  Tips on breathing new life, interest, and activity into your group.
  3. LEADERSHIP TEAMS  Creating and maintaining Leadership within your organization.
  4. DATABASE AND COMMUNICATION SYSTEMS  Help with keeping your group alive and active through various communication systems. var _gaq = _gaq || []; _gaq.push(['_setAccount', 'UA-17371201-1']); _gaq.push(['_trackPageview']); (function() { var ga = document.createElement('script'); ga.type = 'text/javascript'; ga.async = true; ga.src = ('https:' == document.location.protocol ? 'https://ssl' : 'http://www') + '.google-analytics.com/ga.js'; var s = document.getElementsByTagName('script')[0]; s.parentNode.insertBefore(ga, s); })();
  5. CAPACITY ASSESSMENT  Determine where your group is strong, and where you could be more effective.

Is your group just starting out or do you need some more intensive support to take your group to the next level? ROP staff can also offer specialized capacity-building services to your group.
